Language Development

                               Language Development

Language development is a brig critical part of a child development, Language is how we humans’ beings communicate with each other in order to understand our wants and needs as people. From when we are first brought into this world, we use some type of way to communicate with each other and later or the way that we use language changes. Now how do we go from GOO GOO and AHBABABA to actual words?  Well modeling of course, no not modeling like those people in Americas next top model but modeling and reinforcement. Early theorist suggested that babies learn language by modeling the people around them. This could possibly explain why babies learn their language so quickly.

There is another theory that nativism has something to do with babies learning language so fast. Nativism is when some of the knowledge that babies acquire is biologically built in and passed down through genetics, and by the time we have everything equipped and ready.  This is backed up by Noam Chomsky he was an early pioneer in language development who stated that children have a biological built in mechanism. “Language acquisition device” that enables them to learn their language.  I would say its kind of like having a device in your head that only activates when you’re ready.

In my opinion as a social butterfly who loves talking to anybody about anything I believe that social culture theories has big impact on our language development. Often time when I was little and I would hear people talk i would think is that how I should talk? Is this what people talk about? Is that how I should react when this specific thing is said to me? Should I over react or under react. I feel like watching other having conversations helps us with our social skills helps us come up with something to talk about helps us understand how people react to certain conversations and what to say and what not to say.

They are listening

You ever wonder how babies say something your just like? Where did you learn that word? And you and your spouse look at each other and blame it on the other well babies always listen to us even when we think they are in their own world the are most likely paying attention to what to what we are saying. Ever heard parents say don’t say it say that in front of the baby!!!!
You should listen because what if one day you come home and hear your poor baby girl or boy curse like a sailor. Babies understand eventually what we are saying, and we should probably give them more credit for it so watch what you say around them it can back fire on you. In conclusion language is a part of everyday life it gives us a way to communicate our feelings and desires towards others, it what helps us make a connection with each other.
